Shop Hopping from Cat Patches

Good Saturday morning to you, my friends. It's still too dark outside to see what kind of day we'll be having today. The weather is supposed to turn clear and cold, although the forecast was for another day of rain today. As we transition from rain to clear and cold, we'll have our best (or worst) chance for snow. I wouldn't mind if some of the white stuff fell.

When I left you yesterday, I was heading off to slow stitch the names on the latest Shop Hop blocks.

Making Peace with Paper-Piecing from Cat Patches

It's Saturday, my friends. It's looking a little foggy out my window today, but I believe it might be nice enough for a walk outside. I'll wait for a bit before deciding. If not, there's always the Chamber of Horrors in the basement. I can do my walking on the treadmill if I need to.

There isn't much to report from yesterday. I spent most of my sewing day working on crazy quilt blocks for the left and right sides of Pieces of the Past. I'll give it credit for being the size it ...

Wild Weather from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We nearly were blown off our hill yesterday. Quite a storm blew through. Our power stayed on, but we were hit with a dozen or so momentary glitches...enough to wreck all the clocks we'd just reset. Other than that, we survived. We were bored and went out for dinner last night. We thought we'd try a new restaurant we spotted in Beaverton. We even made a reservation online. When we arrived, the place was dark, and all the large businesses around it were dark and closed, including the 24-hour Walgreen's. Traffic signals ...

Progress on Three Projects from ... Cat Patches

Good morning my friends. As I considered the title for this post, I thought I might be able to put my high school French classes to work and come up with a new word...something like "troisgress" or "troisjects." But, yeah. It doesn't really work. I give myself an "A" for effort though.

It's a pretty morning here. I'm going to get out for a walk today. I'll head down to the lowlands where I'm unlikely to slip on ice. I need to head into town to get some mushrooms for tonight's dinner. With ...

Fantastically Fast Flannel Four-Patch Finish from Cat Patches

Awesome alliteration. Who knew I'd be writing to tell you about my fifth November finish today? Certainly not me. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I had a bunch of running around to do yesterday. When I left the house yesterday morning, I'd snipped the first three rows of the Flannel Four-Patch quilt, and that was my goal for the day.

I had three stops on my agenda: (1) pick up our Thanksgiving turkey from a local farm store; (2) stop at Joann's for some embroidery floss, and (3) pick up some apples at the grocery ...

Day-After-Halloween Horror from Cat Patches

My day went off the rails yesterday. It was only partly my fault. I should have left the house earlier for my blood draw, but you know...I was talking to you guys, and I had a hard time tearing myself away. When I reached my doctor's lab, there were about ten people ahead of me waiting to meet their own bloodsucking fate. When my name was finally called, the lab tech told me she was "in training," and that there would be someone else in the room with us. Hm, I thought to myself. I hope she's ...

Listless from Cat Patches

As I mentioned yesterday, I was feeling rather punk after getting two vaccines the day before. Since I still haven't gotten my COVID booster, I'm expecting another day like that in a couple of weeks. Tylenol helped, but only a little. Since I was feeling "listless," I thought I'd "list" what I did yesterday and what I plan to do today.

As for yesterday:

1. Woke up

2. Ate breakfast (buttered toast and orange juice)

3. Took a nap

4. Did some slow-stitching

5. Took a nap

6. Worked on my quilting

7. Took a nap

8 ...

Quilting Commences from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It seems things will be pretty much back to what passes for normal around here today. There is one housekeeping chore on the calendar, and then I'm going to start quilting "I Believe in Snowmen." It has been lounging over Eliza and her chair literally for months.

There was about a ton of weeds to pull earlier in the day on Sunday, but I got 'er done. Also, I cut back the peonies and groomed the cucumbers still growing in the greenhouse. Earlier, Mike fertilized them and turned their water back on. I cut stray ...

Approaching Normal from ... Cat Patches

It's been a busy couple of days since we arrived home. Since I last wrote, I've washed 12 loads of laundry, transformed 20 lbs. of apples into applesauce and apple pie filling, and finished the last blocks for the Stitchin' Wisdom quilt. Of course, I couldn't have done any of this without the hard work of my feline friends. We're all exhausted. Smitty is happy to be back to napping in his kitty tree next to the living room window.

Sadie prefers the  privacy of her little house on the catio.

Omaha, Nebraska from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're another state closer to home as I write this. We drove from the Mississippi River to the Missouri River on yesterday's trek.

It was one of the longer days of driving, made longer when we were nearing our destination and found the interstate closed in the direction we wanted to go. No problem. We went north to turn around and head south on the road we wanted, but found that access closed off too. It meant driving farther north, just to come farther south. The only good thing about this story is that ...
